One person has died and 11 others sustained injuries in a mass shooting that occurred in Elkhart, Indiana, according to police reports.
The incident took place early Sunday morning near the intersection of West Garfield Avenue and Benham Avenue. Authorities indicated that they are looking into multiple shootings in that vicinity.
Emergency responders received a report of gunfire around 1:15 a.m. in the 300-block of West Garfield Avenue. Initial findings suggest that several individuals were involved in discharging firearms.
By the time law enforcement arrived, 12 individuals suffering from gunshot wounds had already been taken to nearby hospitals, with one later declared deceased.
Police and crime scene investigators examined a substantial area between the 200-block and 400-block of West Garfield Avenue, gathering evidence from the site.
Some of the injured victims have since been treated and released from medical care.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
