A Fort Wayne teenager has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for the fatal shooting of another teen in 2024.
Gregory Watkins, now 15, received the sentence Monday in Allen Superior Court as part of a plea agreement. He was 14 at the time of the incident.
Watkins was charged in the January 2024 shooting death of 15-year-old Christopher Easton, who was found critically injured in the 4900 block of Vance Avenue. Easton later died at the hospital.
After more than a week on the run, Watkins was arrested in Tennessee and charged as an adult. He has remained in custody at the Allen County Jail.
As part of the plea deal, a separate felony charge for using a firearm in the commission of a crime was dropped.
