A man wanted in connection with a strong-armed robbery earlier this month has been arrested by Columbus police.
On June 1, around 4:00 p.m., officers responded to an assault report in the 900 block of Bennett Avenue. Upon arrival, 56-year-old Larry Hackman told authorities he had been punched by 32-year-old Jontavius Thomas, who then stole cash from his wallet.
A warrant was subsequently issued for Thomas on a charge of strong-armed robbery.
After receiving a tip, officers located Thomas on June 21 near the 2000 block of Short Main Street. He attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended following a brief chase.
Thomas is currently being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center, awaiting his initial court appearance.
