TOLEDO, Ohio — A nationwide protest is set to take place on Saturday, targeting President Donald Trump and his administration.
The event, called “No Kings,” aligns with a planned military parade in Washington, D.C., celebrating the Army’s 250th anniversary and Trump’s 79th birthday.
The “No Kings” demonstrations follow a week of protests against federal immigration raids, including in Los Angeles, where Trump’s use of the National Guard sparked further backlash.
Although thousands are expected to participate across the country, “No Kings” has no demonstrations planned in Washington. In a public statement, organizers said:
“Instead of allowing this birthday parade to be the center of gravity, we will make action everywhere else the story of America that day: people coming together in communities across the country to reject strongman politics and corruption.”
Several protests are already scheduled throughout northwest Ohio and one in southeastern Michigan.
