Three adults in Ohio have been convicted or pleaded guilty for their roles in a horrific case of child abuse involving a 6-year-old boy who was handcuffed and attacked by a dog as a form of punishment.
Robert Michalski Jr., the homeowner and owner of the pit bull involved in the attack, was convicted by an Ashland County jury on two felony counts of complicity to commit endangering children and tampering with evidence. He was acquitted of kidnapping and other charges. His sentencing is scheduled for July 21, where he faces up to nine years in prison.
Angelina Williams, the boy’s mother, pleaded guilty last month to kidnapping and four counts of endangering children. Her sentencing is set for June 30, and she faces a maximum of 40 years behind bars.
Taylor Marvin-Brown, identified as Williams’ boyfriend, pleaded guilty in April to obstructing justice and three counts of complicity in a felony (including complicity in kidnapping and endangering children). He will be sentenced on July 14 and also faces up to 40 years.
The abuse reached its peak on August 17, 2024, when the boy — already subjected to repeated restraint with handcuffs — was reportedly attacked by a pit bull while handcuffed at Michalski’s home in Savannah, Ohio. Authorities described the incident as part of a disturbing pattern of corporal punishment involving both the boy and his sister.
Deputies responded after a report of a child being mauled. The boy suffered serious injuries to his neck and ear and was airlifted to a hospital. His sister was also identified as a victim of abuse.
When law enforcement arrived, Williams and Marvin-Brown were at the scene, but Michalski was found later hiding in an upstairs crawlspace with the dog, which was deemed “vicious” and seized.
The children have since recovered and are now in the care of a legal guardian who, prosecutors say, is providing them with proper care and support.
