A missing teenage girl from Indiana has been found safe, and a 26-year-old man wanted for child molestation is now behind bars.
Deputies say the investigation into the teen’s disappearance led them to The One Life Hotel on Highway 41 early Thursday morning. There, they sought to make contact with Christopher Gamble, who had outstanding warrants in Spencer County for child molestation.
When deputies knocked, the missing teen briefly opened the motel room door but quickly slammed it shut. After repeated attempts, Gamble eventually answered and was immediately arrested due to his active warrants.
Initially, Gamble claimed he was alone in the room. However, a deputy, who was speaking with the teen’s mother by phone, was told the girl might be hiding in the ceiling—and that’s exactly where they found her.
Along with his existing warrants, Gamble now faces additional charges including:
-
Contributing to the delinquency of a minor
-
False informing
-
Sex offender registration violation
The teen is now safe, and Gamble remains in Vanderburgh County Jail.
