A 36-year-old Mexican national, Miguel Angel Lozada-Dominguez, has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States, according to U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme. Upon completing his sentence, Lozada-Dominguez will be removed from the country.
Lozada-Dominguez pleaded guilty in May 2025 to one count of illegal reentry, a federal offense. U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy handed down the sentence.
Court documents state that on April 7, 2025, law enforcement encountered Lozada-Dominguez in St. Regis, Montana, after receiving reports of a man approaching people with a notebook containing handwritten English phrases, allegedly soliciting money.
Lozada-Dominguez admitted to being a Mexican citizen without valid immigration documents or legal status to be in the United States. He did not claim U.S. citizenship. He was arrested and jailed for reinstatement of a prior removal order.
During questioning, Lozada-Dominguez said he had entered the U.S. illegally through Del Rio, Texas, by crossing the border undetected.
Records revealed that Lozada-Dominguez was previously convicted for illegal entry and ordered removed on January 24, 2019. Since that time, he had not received legal authorization from the U.S. Attorney General to reenter the country.
