An Ohio man accused of shooting a romantic rival at a Dayton bar reportedly laughed about the incident in jail and even bragged about making a T-shirt to commemorate the shooting.
Jacob Brady, 27, was arrested and charged with felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of probation violation after a shooting at Pat’s Bar in the early hours of June 22. According to court documents, Dayton Police responded to reports of gunfire and learned that a man had been shot. A bartender provided security footage showing the altercation.
Police say Brady targeted the 23-year-old victim — whose name has not been released — because the man was dating a woman Brady had also been interested in. Witnesses stated that the woman had no interest in Brady.
According to NBC affiliate WDTN, the victim took a ride-share to the hospital and was listed in critical condition.
Brady reportedly confessed to the shooting, claiming the other man had threatened him. However, multiple witnesses told police they didn’t hear any threats. Security video reviewed by police allegedly shows Brady firing two shots at the victim. Officers also recovered shell casings from the scene.
After being taken into custody and booked into the Montgomery County Jail, Brady was reportedly overheard by other inmates laughing and saying:
“I’m gonna put that on a t-shirt — ‘BLAM, that boy down.'”
He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond, with his next court appearance set for July 3.
