A woman suspected of being a serial shoplifter was arrested last week in Macedonia, Ohio, after police found stolen merchandise in her vehicle, according to the Macedonia Police Department.
Officers responded to a call from the local Kohl’s store regarding a woman tied to an “organized crime theft investigation.” Police located the suspect inside the store, but she left without taking anything at that time.
Further investigation revealed that the woman had multiple active arrest warrants in both Ohio and Pennsylvania. Kohl’s officials accused her of involvement in over $51,000 worth of thefts from stores in those states last year.
Although her name was not included in the initial police statement, a Macedonia police spokesperson later identified the suspect as Ashley Hoysack. According to reports from Fox 8 and WOIO, officers conducted a traffic stop on Friday, June 27, as she attempted to leave the parking lot, and took her into custody.
Police say they discovered approximately $1,500 worth of stolen merchandise from nearby stores in the back of her vehicle.
Hoysack now faces multiple charges, including felony counts of possessing criminal tools, engaging in a pattern of criminal behavior, and receiving stolen property, along with various misdemeanor charges.
She was released from jail on a medical furlough due to an untreated health issue, but was scheduled to appear in court on June 30.
Macedonia is located about 24 miles southeast of Cleveland.
