A 64-year-old Warrensville Heights man was arrested after he brutally assaulted his daughter, who had just driven him to Ahuja Medical Center for treatment of a dog bite.

At around 7:15 p.m. on June 25, Beachwood police responded to a report at Ahuja Medical Center, 3999 Richmond Road, where witnesses saw a man exit a vehicle and repeatedly punch the woman behind the wheel.

According to authorities, University Hospitals police handed over surveillance footage showing the suspect hitting the woman once while still seated inside the car. He then stepped out, walked to the driver’s side, and continued the attack, yelling at her as he struck her multiple times. Officers later confirmed the victim was his daughter.

A bystander intervened and pulled the man away from his daughter three times. On the third attempt, the suspect turned and punched the witness in the arm. As the suspect was being restrained, his daughter exited the vehicle, struck her father, then got back into the car and drove off.

The suspect refused to speak with police. Officers noted blood on the sleeves of his white, button-down shirt. The witness expressed concern that some of the suspect’s blood may have gotten on him during the scuffle.

After receiving treatment for his dog bite, the man was arrested and charged with fourth-degree felony domestic violence. Records show a previous conviction for the same offense in 2002.

Authorities noted that the case could lead to an additional assault charge, as the witness stated he wants to pursue legal action. Police did not provide information on the daughter’s condition or when they were able to contact her.
