Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett echoed those sentiments, mourning with the victims’ families and calling the tragedy “avoidable and preventable.”
“These are children, and they should be alive today,” the mayor said.
The shooting comes amid a surge in gun violence affecting cities across the U.S., with Indianapolis seeing a string of deadly incidents involving teenagers in recent months.
