  • 2 counts of felonious assault (each with firearm specifications)

  • 1 count of tampering with evidence

  • 1 count of illegal firearm possession in a liquor-permitted establishment

  • 2 probation violations

These charges stem from a June 22 shooting at Pat’s Bar on Linden Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. Brady was initially arrested for felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon, and violating probation.

The Incident at Pat’s Bar

Dayton police responded to calls of gunfire in the early hours at the dimly lit bar, a known local pool hall in the Linden Heights neighborhood. Witnesses told officers that a man had been shot. Video footage from a bartender helped confirm key details.

According to the police affidavit, Brady allegedly shot a 23-year-old man because he was dating a woman whom Brady had been interested in romantically. However, the woman had rejected Brady, witnesses told police.

“It appeared that Jacob Brady shot (the man) due to a female that had dated (the man) and did not want to be romantically involved with Mr. Brady,” a detective wrote.

The victim managed to take a ride-share to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, according to local NBC affiliate WDTN.

Brady’s Alleged Confession and Jail Comments

Brady later confessed to the shooting, claiming he acted in self-defense because the victim was threatening him. However, witnesses and video footage reportedly contradict that claim. Police say no threats were heard, and surveillance video showed Brady firing two rounds at the man. Officers also recovered bullet casings at the scene.

After his arrest, Brady was allegedly overheard laughing about the shooting while in Montgomery County Jail.

“I’m gonna put that on a t-shirt — ‘BLAM, that boy down,’” Brady allegedly said, according to other inmates.

Brady remains in custody. He was initially held on a $250,000 bond, though current jail records do not list a bond amount. He is scheduled for arraignment on July 8.
